Senecal, Cora Therese Laporte

Cora Therese LaPorte Senecal, 96 of Narrows went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 16th, 2007 at her daughter’s home on Wolf Creek.

She was born in Willimansett, Massachusetts on August 9th, 1911 and was the daughter of the late Philias and Rose Alma Proux LaPorte. In addition to her father and mother, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 40 years, Robert Lewis Alfred Senecal; a son-in-law, Alton Roger Gray; four brothers and two sisters.

She served as a nurse in the United States Navy during World War II in both California and New York, reaching the rank of Lieutenant J.G., and was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Pearisburg. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed by her family.

She is survived by a daughter, Carol Gray of Narrows; two sons, Robert Senecal of Roanoke, Paul Senecal and wife Bonnie of Fincastle; nine grandchildren, Nicolle Gray, Daniel Gray and wife Kristina, Valerie Senecal, Katherine Senecal Bierce, Summer Senecal, Christopher Ray, Kenneth McGuire, Brian McGuire and William McGuire.

A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, November 20th, 2007 at 10 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church in Pearisburg with Father John Prinelli officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. A prayer service will be held Monday at 6 PM in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with the family receiving friends until 8 PM.
