SCOTT, Sue Long

Sue Long Scott, 51, of Fortress Drive in Blacksburg, departed this life Saturday, June 24, 2006 at her home in the loving care of her family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Newport on February 18, 1955, she was a daughter of the late Lee Russell and Margie Ellen Simmons Long. Sue was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Pembroke Ward, where she had served as Primary President and various other callings within the church, and was employed as deputy clerk of General District Court, Blacksburg Division, in Montgomery County.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Roy A. Scott; a son, Brian Heath Atkins, of McCoy; a daughter, Olivia Ellen Scott, of the home; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee R. Jr. and Betty Long, of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., Thomas R. and Linda Long, of Pembroke, John P. and Donna Long, of Newport; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Betsy J. and Eddie Sarver, of Newport, Nancy J. and David Frazier, of Rich Creek, Karen R. and Henry Mann, of Glen Lyn; and a beloved church and work family.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Pembroke Ward, with Bishop Cantrall Martin presiding. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery in Blacksburg. The family will receive friends at the church Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
