Sartin, Charlotte Stafford
Charlotte Marie Stafford Sartin, age 86, went home to Jesus surrounded by her loving family on Monday, April 8, 2019, at her home in Rich Creek, VA. Born August 11, 1932, in Trigg, VA, she was the daughter of the late Frank Lafayette and Nina Hetherington Stafford.
Charlotte was a lifelong member of the Methodist faith. As a devoted member of the Rich Creek United Methodist Church for over 55 years, she taught Sunday School for more than 30 years. She was secure in her faith, confident in her Savior, and joyful in Christian love. Additionally, she was a retired and adored Giles County school teacher who spent over 40 years educating and influencing thousands of children.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her childhood sweetheart, favorite Marine, and loving husband of 56 years, Calvin H. “Pat” Sartin; two brothers, Maurice (Pearl) and Donald (Lois) Stafford; her beloved sister, Emma Ann (H. Buford) Steele; and one brother-in-law, Bill Bowling.
Survivors include one son, Jonathan P. “Jon” Sartin of Rich Creek, VA; one daughter, Melissa Sartin Light of Pearisburg, VA; cherished older sister, Frances S. Bowling; four special grandchildren, Christina S. Graham, Jonathan P. Sartin, II, and Hannah and Rachel Light; four great grandchildren, Kaylin, Ian, and Eli Graham, and Samuel Santolla; two brothers-in-law, Alvin (Pam) and Donald (Shirley) Sartin; one sister-in-law, Drema (Donnie) Page; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 12, 2019, at the Rich Creek First United Methodist Church in Rich Creek, VA, with Pastor Buddy Butler and Rev. Aubrey Whitlow officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek, VA. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at the church in Rich Creek.
