Salesky, Phyllis Stephens
Phyllis Stephens Salesky, 85, of Blacksburg, Va., formerly of Norwalk and Wilton, Conn., passed into the arms of our precious Lord Jesus on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at the Kroontje Health Care Center.
She was born in Berwick, Pa. on January 13, 1920 to the late Randall and Marguerite Stephens. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Salesky, President and CEO of Hat Corporation of America; daughter, Judith Salesky; sister, Joyce Mullin; and brother, Randy Stephens.
Phyllis attended Penn State University where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. Phyllis was a faithful volunteer for over 30 years at the Norwalk Hospital where The Salesky’s donation funded the Emergency Waiting Room. She was very active in numerous community functions and served as the chairperson for The Jewish Community Center Art Show.
Later years in Virginia, where she earned the name “Lucky”, were spent riding through the mountains appreciating the scenic beauty, participating in various activities and games at Showalter Center, making wonderful friends and spending precious time with family enjoying life.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Roger Spradlin, of Blacksburg; beloved grandchildren, Bob Crowley and Judi Crowley, of Westport, Conn.; her sister, Joan Newbury, of Warren, Mich.; extended family, Lannie and Paul Spradlin, of Riner; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at the Church of God of Blacksburg with Pastor Jerry Buckner officiating a celebration of the Life of Phyllis Salesky and her deep love and trust in God.
