Roane, Jr., John Peach

John Peach Roane, Jr., 73, of Midlothian, Virginia, born August 3, 1934 in Mattoax, Virginia to John Peach Roane, Sr. and Hallie Badgett Roane. He died Saturday, January 7, 2006 in Richmond, Virginia.

A former Industrial Arts teacher at Radford High School in excess of 33 years. Mr. Roane served his church and community as a member of Grove United Methodist Church and Grove United Methodist Men as well as serving as a past president of the Radford Lions Club.

An avid Virginia Tech alum and member of the VPI Old Guard he also served in the United States Air Force. After retirement Mr. Roane worked as a tour bus driver for Abbott Tours of Roanoke and James River Tours of Richmond.

He is survived by his wife, Beth Hornsby Roane of Midlothian, Virginia; son, Bradford P. Roane of Pilot, Virginia; daughter, Jane Roane Loftis and son-in-law, Phillip Loftis of Urbanna, Virginia; stepchildren, Wyman Smith of Mechanicsville, Virginia, George and Tracy Smith of Richmond, Virginia, Bill and Laura S. Foster of Richmond, Virginia; sisters, Ann Roane Ruggeri of Bound Brook, New Jersey and Frances Roane Moorhouse of Clemmons, North Carolina; grandchildren, Mandy and Allison Roane of Radford, Virginia, Hannah and Abby Loftis of Urbanna, Virginia and Parker Smith of Mechanicsville, Virginia; as well as loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John P. Roane, Sr. and Hallie B. Roane; and his first wife, Doris Holston Roane.

A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2006 at Grove Methodist Church 1020 Tyler Avenue Radford, Virginia. The family will receive family and friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall. A private interment will take place at Highland Memorial Gardens in Dublin, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bon Air Christian Church of Richmond building fund or Christian Children’s Fund.
