Rice, Larry Eugene

Larry Eugene Rice, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV. Born June 8, 1953, in Pearisburg, VA, he was the son of the late St. Claire Rice and Mona Buckland Rice. Larry worked as a loader operator at the Pounding Mill Quarry. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Randall Rice; and niece, Samantha Thompson.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Chris Rice; daughter, Amanda Kertesz and husband John; grandson, Tyler Stratton; sisters, Donna Thompson and Nedra Dillon and husband Jimmy; two nieces, Angie Vaughan and Tammy Dillon; nephew, Anthony Dillon; and Amanda and John’s pit-boxer mix, Raja Lynn Kertesz, who he loved and treated like his granddaughter.
