Rhodes, Jonathan Lee

Jonathan Lee Rhodes, age 40, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at his residence in Peterstown, WV, following a long illness with diabetes and addiction.

Born August 30, 1984, in Ronceverte, WV, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, he was the son of Sandra Kaye Bryant Rhodes Miller of Peterstown, WV, and the late David Dwayne Rhodes.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Harvey and Leda Bryant; paternal grandparents, Thomas Rhodes and Shirley Sims; daughter, Victoria Rhodes; and also his beloved brother-in-law “best friends”, Matthew Hipsley.

Jonathan started as an electrician helper at the age of 15. When he was 25 years old, he had an Electric Journeyman, and by the age of 32, he was a Master Electrician. Jonathan was not a person who went to school for trade, he was self-taught. He had a passion for the electrical trade, he loved a good challenge that nobody else knew how to do or fix.

He loved his children dearly and his family. He also loved baseball and football. His favorite NFL team was Washington Redskins for life. He also was very outgoing, enjoyed shooting pool, and shopping (shoes mainly). But his favorite thing in the world was buying new Jordan shoes.

In addition to his mother and her husband, Mark Miller, survivors include his children, Isaac Lee Rhodes of Norway, Alaya Faye Rhodes, Holden Dwayne Harvey Rhodes of Alderson, WV; his sister, Samantha Hipsley of Aldie, VA, and her children, Mariya, Nolan, and Nathan. He had several loving cousins, but truly special aunts and uncles David Bryant and wife Peggy of Snake Run, WV, Linda Martin and her late husband Iven of Snake Run, WV, and Harvey and Dollie Bryant of Elton, WV; and his paternal Aunt and Uncle, Gaylene and William Sanford of Salem, VA.

Memorial service will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Grassy Meadows Gospel Lighthouse in Alderson, WV, with Pastor Butch LeGrand officiating.
