Porterfield, John Peyton

John Peyton Porterfield, 89, of 5607 Blenna Court, Dublin, passed away Monday, October 16, 2006 at his home. Born June 24, 1917 in Pulaski, he was the son of the late Benjamin Harrison Porterfield, Sr. and Willie Maude Quesenberry Porterfield; his wife, Rose Zetta “Rosie” Turner Porterfield; one daughter, Betty Jo Porterfield; and son, Douglas Wayne Porterfield; one granddaughter, Deborah Lynn Flinchum; two sisters, Ruby Beverly and Emily Jones; one brother, Benjamin Harrison Porterfield, Jr.; and one son-in-law, Noel Flinchum preceded him in death.

He was retired from the Town of Dublin (Superintendent of Utilities) with over 30 years of service. He was a United States Army Veteran, having served during World War II.

Surviving are his sons, John Harrison and Pauline Porterfield, Dublin, Terry Lee and Patty Porterfield, Pulaski; daughters, Connie Flinchum, Salem, Willie and David Brooks, Roanoke, Judy Robinson, Dublin; sister , Marnie and Garnett Fagg, Pulaski; little buddy, Benny Holcomb; special friends, Larry and Kay Hancock; 19 grandchildren; 40 greatgrandchildren; two great-greatgrandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski with the Pastor Ronald Gore officiating. Interment will follow at the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the Bower Funeral Chapel, 1631 Bobwhite Blvd., Pulaski. Special thanks to NRV Medi-Home Health and Hospice for their special care.
