Genice Victor Phillips, 80, of Shawsville died, Sunday, May 21, 2006, at his home. He was born in Floyd, Va. on March 19, 1926 to the late Cornelius and Lomie Quesenberry Phillips.

He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Dedie Quesenberry; two brothers, Grover Phillips and Carson Quesenberry; three sisters, Ivory Graves, Avis Shaver and Icy Jarrells; brother-in-law, Frank Graves; and grandson, Jesse Shrewsberry. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Edith M. Phillips of Shawsville; two daughters, Marty Cook and fianc?, Champ Lefler of Mt. Gilead, N.C., Debbie Shrewsberry of Blacksburg; three sons and daughter-in-law, Don and Vannesa Phillips of Elliston, Ken Phillips of Shawsville, Terry Phillips of Radford; ten grandchildren, Tom Cook, Tim Cook, Terry Cook, Scott Phillips, Kenny Shrewsberry, James Lutz, Robert Lutz, Charlotte Peer, James Peer, Caleb Wegner; sister, Hattie Matherly of Blacksburg; brothers-in-law, J.T. Morris of Elliston, Marvin Morris of Christiansburg, Charles Morris of Christiansburg, Doug Morris of North Carolina, Paul Morris of Radford, Ed Jarrells of Blacksburg; sisters-in-law, Dot Morris of Radford, Margie Morris of Elliston, Ruby Morris of Christiansburg, Judy Morris of Mississippi, Jean Phillips of Roanoke, Peggy Morris of Christiansburg, Louise Morris of Radford; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Keith Paff officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. Friends may call anytime after 12 noon Tuesday, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., Blacksburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 554, Roanoke, Va. 24003.
