Phillips, Edna Mathena

Edna Mathena Phillips, 82, of New River, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 28, 2006. She was a member of Morgans Chapel United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, O. O. and Gertie Mathena; a daughter, Judy Ann Phillips; five brothers and two sisters. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Kirby Harding Phillips of New River; three sons and daughters in-law, Gary H. and Debbie Phillips, and Dean and Sonja Phillips, all of New River, and Chipper and Patty Phillips of Snowville; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Tom Jones of Fairlawn; a special son and his wife, Robert M. and Arleta Boyd of Fairlawn; a sister, Chris Hedge of New River; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Morgans Chapel UMC with the Rev. Kristie Banes and the Rev. Darlene Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Burial Park in Radford. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. www.mullinsfuneralhome.com
