Stephen Allen Patterson, 59, of Blacksburg, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2006 at VA Medical Center, Salem, where he had been a patient for the past month.

Mr. Patterson was born in Harrisonburg, on August 24, 1947, and was a son of the late Craig Allen and Hilda “Ted” (Kaylor) Patterson. He was the owner and operator of the Blacksburg Driver Training School, in Blacksburg, Va. for over 12 years. He had previously operated Lucky Cab in Blacksburg, Va.

He was a member of Mt. Horeb Presbyterian Church, Grottoes, Va. He was a member of the Boy Scouts and attained the honor of the Eagle Scout. He graduated from Montevido High School in 1965, and was a graduate of Virginia Tech. He served in the U.S. Army, in Korea, during the Vietnam era.

He is survived by one brother, Michael C. Patterson of Atlanta, Ga. Surviving in addition to his brother is one uncle, Sidney Kaylor, and his wife Anne of Arlington; one aunt, Mary Patterson of Grottoes, and numerous cousins. He had a circle of close friends for many years.

A funeral service will be conducted at the Johnson Funeral Service Grottoes Chapel, Grottoes, at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 24, 2006, with Pastor Guy Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at the Edgewood Cemetery, in Grottoes, Va. The family will receive friends at the Johnson Funeral Home, Grottoes one hour prior to the service.
