Nolen, Mildred Ruth Altizer

Mildred Ruth Altizer Nolen, 75, of Floyd, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2007.

Mildred touched everyone she knew with her gentleness and grace. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved reading, gardening, canning, quilting, and preparing special dishes for her family. She was selfless in everything that she did and treated everyone with tenderness. Her grandchildren and great-grandchild gave her special joy.

Survivors include her husband, Marvin V. Nolen, Floyd, Va.; sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell and Mary Nolen, Virginia Beach, Va., Julian Nolen, Floyd, Va., Layton and Kathryn Nolen, Fancy Gap, Va., Ron Nolen and Kathy O’Neill, Caldwell, W.Va.; daughter and son-in-law, Myra and Kent Adams, Christiansburg, Va.; sisters and brother-in-law, Alma and Jimmy Harrison, Fairlawn, Va., Myra Peters, Floyd, Va., Mary Vest, Copper Hill, Va.; grandchildren, Eric Nolen, Alison Payne, Bradley Nolen, Carly Nolen, Alex Adams, Samuel Nolen; great-grandchild, Brayden Payne.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2007 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel, Floyd, with the Rev. Eli Yoder and Glynn Greer officiating. Interment will follow at County Line Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Hall, David Yoder, Michael Brammer, Randall Nolen, Jason Payne and Wendell Peters. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Maberry Funeral Home.
