Nester, Martha Pauline Linkous

Martha Pauline Linkous Nester, 77, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2006 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. A native of Montgomery County, she was born and lived in Merrimac most of her life.

She was the daughter of the late William Crockett and Ellen V. Linkous. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest L. Nester; son, Carl L. (Ricky) Nester; grandson, Darrell D. Nester; two sisters, Lillian Richardson and Laura Linkous; and four brothers, William O. Linkous, Howard E. Linkous, Garner C. Linkous and Ray H. Linkous.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Paul Poff; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Deborah Nester; daughter-in-law, Judy K. Nester; two sisters, Mary Kathleen Linkous (her twin), and Elizabeth L. Perfater; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert H. and Sylvia R. Linkous; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Linkous and Edna Linkous, all of Blacksburg; ten grandchildren, Irene and Dwayne Sparks, Wendy Poff and her fianc?, Tim Kitts, Lee and Melanie Poff, Sonny Nester, Amanda and Robbie Akers, Kim Nester; ten great-grandchildren, Andrew Sparks, Adam Sparks, Caitlin Lytton, Emma Poff, Isaac Poff, Justin Nester, Courtney Nester, Crystal Nester, Jacob Nester, and Noah Akers; also surviving are many loving nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Pauline was a member of the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was a dedicated homemaker who loved antiques, crocheting and feeding the birds. She was a precious gift to our family and “Earth’s loss is Heaven’s gain.”

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 16, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Jerry Sloss officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. Friends may call anytime after 12 noon Saturday, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., Blacksburg.
