Lea Myers, (Momma Lea), 71, of Painter’s Woods, Draper, passed away Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012. She is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Joseph W. Myers; daughter and son-in-law, Laura Michelle and Lee Dalton of Dublin; sons, Jeffrey Dean Allison of Dublin, James Theodore Allison of Allisonia; and son and daughter-in-law, Anthony William and Robin Allison of Draper. She adored her five grandchildren, Tanner James Allison of Christiansburg, Tyler Dean and Lindsey Ray Allison of Ferrum, and Andrew William and Mackenzie Paige Allison of Draper. She is also survived by two sisters, Kay Kline and Sherrill Epperley of Pulaski, and her dear friend and caretaker Priscilla Jones (Crickett). She was preceded in death by her parents, William Douglas and Edythe Frances Smith Carnell; sister, Jacqueline Joyce Hale, and brothers, William Douglas Jr. and Michael Lynn Carnell. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend to many people. Lea was a lifelong activist and supporter of animal rights. She dedicated her life to benefit animals with her devotion to the Pulaski County Humane Society. She was instrumental in development of the Pulaski County Animal Shelter. She was chairperson of the NRV Pet Show, held annually at the NRV Fair. “Momma Lea” was the general manager of WBLB radio station and actively involved in numerous business endeavors throughout her working career. She enjoyed writing poetry and was inspired by her childhood growing up in the Allisonia community. A memorial service in celebration of the life of Lea Myers will be held Monday, Sept. 10, at the Power of Deliverance Church, 6545 Lee Hwy., between Dublin and Fairlawn. Family will receive friends and relatives beginning at 6 p.m., with memorial service beginning at 8 p.m. Pastor Delores Caldwell will conduct the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Pulaski County Humane Society in memory of Lea Myers. The family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home and Crematory.
