MEREDITH, Ruth Aileen

Ruth Aileen Meredith, 87, of Smith Hollow Road in Pembroke, departed this life from Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem, Monday, June 12, 2006.

Born in Ripplemead on August 15, 1918 she was a daughter of the late George W. and Millie Snow Martin Bradley. A beloved Christian mother and grandmother, she was a member of Pembroke Christian Church and a 1939 graduate of Pembroke High School and served on the Giles County Senior Citizens Board.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Bertha Connor, Talma Martin, and Mattie Havens; and three brothers, Arnold (Cub) Bradley, Ray Bradley, and George (Dude) Bradley.

She leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Gerald G. and Sue Meredith of Pembroke, G. Dwain Meredith of Pembroke, Kevin and Sandy Meredith of Pembroke; two daughters, Judy and Bill Mance of Pembroke, Sharon and Ken McFarland of Covington; seven grandchildren, Debbie and Ted Longsworth, Greg and Ann Mance, Marty and Tammy Meredith, Angie and Bobby Deacon, Amy Crawford, Devin Crawford and Jennifer, Lindsey Meredith; 11 greatgrandchildren; several beloved in-laws; her friends at Pembroke Fire Dept. Monday night Bingo, and numerous other special friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with the Rev. E.C. Redmond and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to The Pembroke Christian Church or the Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department.
