Meadows, Lucille Howard

Lucille Howard Meadows, 88, of Rich Creek, Va., went home to her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 8, 2006 in Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital, Pearisburg, Va.

She was born December 24, 1917 in Magoffin County, Ky. and was one of seven children of the late Grover and Beatrice Arnett Howard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Aubrey P. Meadows; her precious son, A. Phillip Meadows; and three sisters and a brother.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Larry and Cynthia Meadows Eades of Roanoke, Va., and daughter-in-law, Dreama Meadows of Blacksburg, Va. She also leaves two cherished grandsons, Gabriel Eades of Richmond, Va. and Logan Meadows of Floyd, Va.; a sister and brother-in-law, James and Claudine Gardner of Xenia, Ohio; a sister, Alberta Trusty of Xenia, Ohio; and sister-in-law, Viola Howard of Berea, Ohio.

Lucille was a member of Order of Eastern Star at Narrows and Pearisburg, Va. and was an active member of her local community. She retired from the Giles County School System after thirty years of service at Rich Creek Elementary.

She served her Savior as a member of the First Baptist Church of Rich Creek, Va. and was active in the Gideon Auxiliary for over thirty years, helping to spread God’s word. Lucille was a strong and loving woman who remained faithful to her priorities of service to God and love of family and friends. She will be sadly missed.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2006 at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, W.Va. with the Rev. Jim Pickett and the Rev. Paul Coates officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens at Rich Creek, Va. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2006 at the funeral home.
