McPherson, Kenneth A.

Kenneth A McPherson, 81, of Fort Mill, S.C. formerly of Blacksburg, died Thursday August 30, 2012. Born October 30, 1930 He was the son of the late L.C. McPherson Sr. and Anne Rhudy McPherson of Blacksburg. He was a native of Blacksburg, a Korean War Veteran and a Graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He Joined McDonnell-Douglas Aerospace Company in 1961 and worked most of his career in Southern California. He worked on the Saturn, Apollo, Skylab, Delta, and Torpedo Programs. He also worked on special projects in Huntsville, Ala., Orlando. Fla. (Brilliant Pebbles), Kingsport, Tenn., and in the Environmental Restoration Programs in Oakridge, Tenn. Mr. McPherson was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lloyd McPherson Jr., and three sisters Mary Saunders, Virginia Hale, and Frances Harrison. Surviving are his wife, Lois Davis McPherson of Fort Mill, S.C.; two sons, Jesse S. McPherson (Kristin) of Tampa Fla., and Gary W. McPherson (Donna) of Matthews, N.C.; four grandsons, Kenneth (Angel), Kevin, Christopher, and Casey McPherson; two granddaughters, Addyson and Kennedy Anne McPherson; and one great-grandson, William McPherson, and his sister, Margaret Lewis (Guy C.) of Richmond. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday September 3, 2012 McCoy Funeral Home with an interment at Westview Cemetery Following the Services. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Lung Association . The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home of Blacksburg.
