McCoy, Kate (Kitty) Sisson

Kate “Kitty” Ellen Sisson McCoy, 91, of Radford, passed away Friday, November 15, 2013. She was a member of Grove United Methodist Church. She was born in Bluefield, WVa the daughter of the late James A. and Mae Jewell Sisson, and attended Concord College. She was a member of the PEO, Jr. Women’s Club where she was state president, RU Foundation where she was the first president, and the Business and Professional Women’s Club. She was proud to be part of the Radford Community Hospital Auxiliary, the Red Cross, and being a Gray Lady at the VA Hospital. She also was an avid bridge player.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 51 years, Fred Woodrow McCoy, her son, James Andrew McCoy, and brothers, Dr. Wayne Sisson and Dr. Francis Sisson. Survivors include her son, Fred Douglas “Doug” McCoy of Savannah, GA; grandchildren, Kelly McCoy, Kate McCoy, Samantha Stokes and John McCoy; and two great grandchildren, Pfc Austin Kinder and Morgan Kinder.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 18, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Grove United Methodist Church in Radford with Rev. Karen Lane officiating. Interment will follow in West View Cemetery in Radford. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:30 pm until the time of the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Grove UM Church General Fund.
