Main, Janet S.

Janet Ione Main, 68, of 104 Pelham Drive, Waynesboro, died Monday, May 15, 2006 at her residence. She was born October 4, 1937 in Christiansburg, a daughter of Rosser Newton and Ione Marguarette Meador Smith.

A graduate of Virginia Tech, she taught school before becoming a real estate broker. She had retired from Barnwell & Jones, Inc. of Waynesboro.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James D. “Jim” Main in 1999. Surviving are two sons and their wives, John A. and Laura Main of Stafford, and James D. and Lynett Main of Cabot, Ark.; and five grandchildren, Ashleigh, Kelly, Sarah, and Dawn Main, and Jennifer Gee.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at McDow Funeral Home, Waynesboro. Interment will be private in the family cemetery in Howardsville. Following the memorial service the family will receive friends at the home from 3 to 5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the AMC-Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O.
