LINKOUS, Sadie Link

After a life of Christian service, Sadie Link Linkous, 88, of Blacksburg, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side on Wednesday, January 25, 2006.

She was born March 24, 1917 in Blacksburg. She was the daughter of the late Bittle and Maggie Howard Link. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Linkous; a brother, Roy Link; a daughter, Jerri Carter; and a grandson, Wayne Browning.

Left to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy are her sons and daughters-in-law, David (Dan) and Carol Linkous, Arnold and Edith Linkous, and Tim and Karen Linkous; daughters, Betty Ward, Joyce Blevins and son-in-law, Vinnie, Linda Fain and son-in-law Manuel, all of Christiansburg, Lois Jarrels and son-in-law Leslie of Blacksburg; 26 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a very special friend and prayer partner, Evelyn Price.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Evelyn Parish and the third floor staff of Montgomery Regional Hospital for their special care and kindness. Sadie retired from Virginia Tech Dining Services. She devoted her life to the care and well being of her family. She was an amazing grandmother. Her special Grandma’s love touched the lives of each grandchild.

She was a faithful member of Grace Assembly of God, worked in many churches throughout her lifetime, and supported Healing in His Wings ministries. Her life was dedicated to church work and ministering to the needs of others. She preached, taught Sunday school, sang, and played the piano.

Sadie was a gifted cook. She lovingly prepared food for family, friends, ministers, and any stranger that happened her way. She had a lovely spirit of selflessness and truly put the needs of others before her own. Sadie cared for many people in her home and worked with Social Services to aid others. She will be remembered for her deep compassion and enduring faith.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 28, 2006 at 3 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Angle and the Rev. Greg Webb officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Grace Assembly of God Building Fund, P.O. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., Blacksburg.
