Linkous, Elsie Bishop

Elsie Bishop Linkous, 75, of Christiansburg, went to join her loved ones in heaven on Friday, March 24, 2006.

Among those waiting her arrival was her husband of 57 years, Gilbert Chapman Linkous, whom she married on December 30, 1946. Elsie lived a rich and full life, which was reflected through her commitment to her family, her community and her Lord.

Those left to cherish her memory and mourn the loss of her gentle, loving and giving nature are, son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Sherry D. Linkous; daughter, Sharon Linkous and her friend Jamie Kincer; three grandchildren and spouses, Michelle and Jason McGinnis, David Boyd, Steven and Deidra Boyd; sister, Marlee Bishop; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Beulah Bishop, Fred and Mary Bishop; two brothers-in-law and spouses, the Rev. J. Harvey and Ocie Clark, Harold and Jolyn Linkous; special great-grandson, Michael W. McGinnis; special great niece, Ellie Kent Wade; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; beloved pets, Tipper, Buster and Boots and a host of her precious feathered friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at the Floyd Baptist Church with with Dr. Dave Holladay officiating. Interment will follow in Lee Cemetery, Tuggles Gap. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Sunday at Gardner Funeral Home where the family will be from 6 until 8 p.m. The family would like to thank all her special friends and many neighbors in the community for their continued love and support, and to Ryan Simpkins for helping with the home.
