LINKOUS, Christine Collins

Christine Collins Linkous, 89, of Christiansburg, died Monday, September 25, 2006 at her home.

She was born in Montgomery County, Va. on January 28, 1917 to the late Carl and Callie Lawrence Collins. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Will Brumfield, her husband, Russell E. Linkous, three brothers, William, James, and Richard Collins, stepsister, Maggie Graham. She was a member of Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church for over 50 years.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Dr. Earl Beatty of Franklin Springs, Ga., Carol L. Bishop of Florida, Sheryl and Jay Burk of Shawsville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Mary Linkous of Lawrenceville, Ga., Russell (R.E.), Jr. and Clare Linkous of Germantown, Tenn., Don and Carol Linkous of Blacksburg; a brother, Dr. Carl Collins of Daleville; a sister-in-law, Edna Linkous of Blacksburg; stepbrother, William Brumfield, Jr. of Roanoke; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; special friend, Mimia Moore; many other friends and extended church family.

The family wishes to thank the special caregivers, Peggy Wickline, Jennifer East, Lorene Cole and the others who cared for Mrs. Linkous.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 28, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Jerry Sloss officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church, 895 Merrimac Road, Blacksburg, Va. 24060 or the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 176, Christiansburg, Va. 24073. Friends may call anytime after 12 noon Wednesday, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
