James Lonzo (Lonnie) Lester, age 80 of Spur Branch Road in Bland County, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at New River Valley Medical Center. He was born on September 6, 1933 in Marytown, WV, and was the son of the late Ellen Kennedy Lester and John Lester.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War, was a member of the Bland American Legion, and was a long-time employee of Pulaski Furniture.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters; Lydia Margaret Thompson, Catherine Charlotte Lane, Martha Marie Mullins, Juanita Lester, and Kizzie Mae Rose; and a brother, William Alvis (Buster) Lester. He is survived by his wife; Alma Hamblin Lester; Three Sisters; Rinda Elizabeth Mullins of Ballard, WV, Ruby Alice Marshall of Hamphill, WV, and Virginia Frances Carder of Pulaski, along with special nephews; Randolph Suthers and David Suthers of Buena Vista.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Seagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in Spur Branch Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
