Landreth, Alvin Franklin
Alvin Franklin Landreth, 93, of Pulaski, went to be with his Lord, Sunday, January 15, 2006. Born August 3, 1912 in Allisonia, Va. he was the son of the late William Henry and Birgie Reece Landreth. His beloved wife, Josephine Lawson Landreth; his son, Vivian; brothers, Clinton and Saford; and sister, Beulah Mitchell also preceded him in death.
He was a loving father who taught his children from birth the importance of accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and living a life that would be pleasing to Him. He was a leader in establishing the Allisonia Church of God and served in every capacity of leadership except pastor, at one time or another, throughout the entire existence of that church. He was a faithful member of Bob White Boulevard Church of God at the time of death. He was retired from Coleman Furniture with over 40 years of service.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, sons and daughter-in -law, Ronnie & Sandy Landreth Dublin; daughters and sons-inlaw, Twila and H.L. White of Pulaski, Gayle & Ralph Gilbert of Dublin, Sue Burgess and Dewey Craig, Mauldin, S.C., Dawn and Cecil Deel, Cleveland, Tenn., Joyce and Wilburn Doyle, Richmond, Va.; 21 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren ; 3 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Wednesday at the Bob White Boulevard Church of God, with the Reverends Cecil Deel, Jerry Collins and George Freeman officiating. Interment will follow at the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Bower Funeral Chapel, 1631 Bobwhite Boulevard, Pulaski. Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski is handling the arrangements.
