Lambert, Ezra Howard

Ezra Howard Lambert, 83, of Pearisburg, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 30, 2010, at Riverview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Rich Creek. A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born on May 25, 1927, and was the son of the late Jessie Eugene and Rene Bell Burton Lambert.

In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Wayne Lambert; an infant daughter, Lucy Elizabeth Lambert; three infant brothers, Cecil, Charles and Estel Lambert; and an older brother, Sparrell Upton Lambert.

He was a retired employee of the Giles County Public Works Department, where he was a heavy equipment operator at the county landfill, as well as for Giles Construction Corporation and the Virginia Department of Transportation. An avid sportsman, Ezra loved to fish and hunt, including hunting ginseng, camping and spending time with his family.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Lucy Madeline Brogan Lambert; two sons, James Howard and wife, Betty, of Christiansburg, and Virgil Lambert and Kathy, of Pearisburg; a daughter, Brenda Carolyn Lambert Whittaker and husband, Myron, of Pearisburg; six grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many special friends. uneral Services will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2010, in the chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with the Rev. Charles Henderson and the Rev. Ralph Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery in the Wolf Creek community near Narrows. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service on Saturday, October 2, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m.
