Jones, Ruth Elizabeth

Ruth Elizabeth Jones, 83, of Second St. in Pembroke departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday evening May 6, 2006 from Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg.

Born in the Eggleston Community of Giles County on April 24, 1923 she was a daughter of the late Earnest and Della Kingrea Lafon. She was a devoted member of Pembroke First United Methodist Church, a member of Pearis Chapter Order of The Eastern Star No. 124, and was retired from the Celanese Celco Plant with over thirty-three years service.

Ruth was preceded in death by two sons David W. Jones and Leon Jones , two grandchildren, David Randolph Jones and Lisa Jones, two brothers J. W. Lafon and C. W. Lafon.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of over sixty years Johnny Paul Jones; three sons and daughters-in-law Johnny Randolph and Sandy Jones of Centerville, Va., Kevin Earnest and Christy Jones of Pembroke, Tim and April Jones of Pembroke; three grandchildren April Jones, Noah Jones, and Sarah E. Jones; two sisters Louise Moses of Snowville, Va. and Margaret L. Vaught and husband Bryant of Maybrook.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Pembroke First United Methodist Church with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. An Eastern Star Service will be conducted at the funeral home Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. and the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. The Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke is serving The Jones Family.
