Johnston, James Braden
James Braden Johnston, of Blacksburg, died peacefully at home on March 14, 2024. He was born in Newton, Kansas, on June 15, 1942, to James and Gladys Johnston. Preceding him in death are his parents and sister, Regina Sue Johnston.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Katherine Moriarty Johnston; daughters and sons-in-law Sloane Johnston Bowen (Bryan) and Bethany Johnston Piersol (Jake); grandchildren Cassidy Elliott, Matthew and Miette Elliott, Jarrod and Sydnee Bowen, Will Bowen, and Braden, Hank, Sam and Katie Piersol; great-grandchildren Kenzie Miller, Kennedy and Kyson Carter, and Logan Elliott; brother and sister-in-law Korbin and Jane Johnston; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Beth and Keith Crow, and many nieces and nephews.
Jim served his country as a member of the United States Air Force.
Jim will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandpa, papa and “JJ”, for his jolly disposition, and sense of humor.
Jim was a long-time member of Christ Episcopal Church. A celebration of life will be held there at a later date.
