Jessie, Roger Lee

Roger Lee Jessie, of Pilot Va, passed away on March 22, 2024 at the age of 78. He was born on July 13, 1945 to the late Jeanette Lane and William Jessie.

Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his stepmother, Pearl Jessie; sister, Sandra Blankenship; brother, Michael Jessie; numerous nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his soulmate and loving wife of 61 years, Janice Jessie; children, Lynn Dunway, Donna Fortune, Rodney Jessie and wife Lisa, Sean Jessie, and Renee Graham; grandchildren, Jimmy Roberts, Christy Roberts, Lauren Fortune, Rachel Fortune, Brandon Jessie, Nathan VanHoy, Alex Jessie, Alyssa Hodge, Julianna Likens, Kirsten Lawson, Stanley Lawson, Logan Jessie and wife Jaci, Liam Jessie, Ashleigh Jessie, Evan Jessie, and Matthew Graham; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Donnie Jessie and wife Peggy; sister, Teresa Ososki and husband John; several nieces and nephews.

Roger was born in Red Ash, VA and was raised in Raven. He was a member of the Army National Guard, a coal miner, a tile layer, and eventually settled in Christiansburg and became an entrepreneur. He established United Muffler in the area which was a successful business for 46 years. He loved farming, raising cattle and horses, he was a lover of the outdoors, hunting, fishing, but most importantly he loved his family and his church. He never met a stranger and was a friend to everyone. He was loved beyond words and will be missed greatly by all who knew him. Dad, you will forever be the hero of the family.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Lighthouse Family Ministries Church or St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital in Roger’s name.

The family would like to express their thanks to the Lighthouse Ministries Church for all their love and support.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, March 30, 2024 from 2-4 pm with a memorial service to follow at Lighthouse Family Ministries located at 365 Union Valley Road, Riner.
