Virginia Mae Smith Jacobs, 86, of Radford, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2005. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul Jackson Jacobs, a son, Billy Holmes, and a sister, Vernie Neal.

She was retired from the housekeeping department of Radford Community Hospital. She was born January 7, 1919 in Saltville, the daughter of Fount and Mattie Frye Smith.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and Patsy Holmes of Radford, and Jessie and Darlene Holmes of Riner; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Jay Kennedy of Knoxville, Tenn., and Shelby and Marshall Pruitt of Sugar Grove; a brother, Raymond Smith of Manassas; a sister and brother-in-law, Doreen and Fred Tweety of Charlotte, N.C.; 25 grandchildren; and a multitude of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Fairlawn Church of God in Radford. Mrs. Jacobs will then be taken to Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville where the family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of the service at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2005 with Rev. Eddie Dalton officiating. Interment will follow in the Elizabeth Cemetery in Saltville.
