Ingram, Ruth Vest

Ruth Vest Ingram, 90 of Floyd, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023. She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Elvin Ingram; parents, Morris Allen and Ida Mae Cannaday Vest; brothers Kyle A. Vest, Ralph M. Vest, David R. Vest; sister, Dorothy V. Janney.

She is survived by her sons, David W. Ingram (Teresa M.) and Robert L. Ingram (Amy J.); grandchildren, Wayne Ingram (Brandi M.) and their children Rafe Joseph, Limary Ann, and Tripp Lane, Kassie Landes (Tyler) and their children Lilian Grayce and Theodore Trent, and Jordan Levi Ingram; brothers, Paul L. Vest, Charles W. Vest (Loretta P.), James B. Vest (Katie S.); sister, Marie V. Thomas (Bill); numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Ruth was a graduate of Check High School. She spent most of her adult life working with the public at G. J. Ingram and Son Store alongside her husband and sons whom she dearly loved. She was always working, caring for others, working outside in her flower and vegetable gardens, canning and preserving foods. She was a role model for others sharing her talents and life skills freely. Because of these traits and strengths, she was a crucial part in the success of the family business. Her duties varied from farm staff to owner of G. J. Ingram and Son Store and Little River Dairy. She was a master of all that she touched.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2023 with Pastor Roy Turpin, Pastor Jerry Hylton, and Pastor Darren Landon officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at the funeral home.

The family would like to give special thanks to Ruth’s devoted sister and selfless caregiver Marie Thomas. We also greatly appreciate her other caregivers Pam, Athena, Katherine, Pansy, Perky, Sally and Lisa. Thanks also go to Monica and her staff at Good Samaritan Hospice and Dr. Jed at Tri Area Clinic.
