Hutchison, Layman Hale
Layman Hale (Bud) Hutchison, 86, of Narrows went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 20, 2008 at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg.
He was born in Craig County on September 29, 1921 and was the son of the late John Mason and Annie Porterfield Hutchison. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Hutchison. Layman served in the United States Army during World War II and retired from Celanese Acetate in Narrows with 43 years service.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Fleda Sartin Hutchison of Narrows; three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Sartin Evans and husband Eugene of Staffordsville, Marie Sartin Roberts of Pearisburg, and Janice Sartin Tracy of Rocky Mount, Virginia; three brothers-in-law, Marvin P. Sartin and wife Glenna of Eggleston, James A. Sartin and wife Charlotte of Christiansburg, and Carroll W. Sartin and wife Gladys of Shenandora, Texas; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with the Rev. Dennis Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg with graveside rites conducted by VFW Post #6000 of Narrows, American Legion Post #68 of Narrows and American Legion Post #311 of Pembroke.
