Hurst, Ruby Aileen

Ruby Aileen Hurst, 84, of Blacksburg died Saturday, January 7, 2006 at Skyline Manor in Floyd, Va. She was born July 19, 1921 in Pulaski, Va. and was the daughter of the late William Leb and Nora Lee Covey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Benjamin Hurst; a sister, Joyce Chinault; and a brother, Eugene Covey.

Surviving are a daughter, Phyllis Harless, of Christiansburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Merlie and James Moore, of Christiansburg; a son and daughter-in-law, William (Ben) and Becky Hurst, of Pulaski; a son and daughterin-law, Danny and Linda Hurst, of Blacksburg. She is also survived by one sister, Rita Newman, and husband, Claude, of Pulaski; four brothers, Wilbor (Bill) and wife, Nell, of Pulaski; Arnold (Doug) and wife Dammi, of Greensboro, N.C.; George and wife, Sylvia, of North Ridgeville, Ohio; and William (Junior) and wife, Edith, Pulaski; a sister-in-law, Annie Belle Covey, of Wellington, Ohio; brother-in-law, Rev. Earnest Chinault, of Draper; nine grandchidren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was a member of Faith Christian Church of Christ in Christiansburg.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, January, 9 at the Horne Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 10 in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Clyde George and Otto Conley officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Cemetery.
