HUDSON, Thelma Harrell

Thelma Harrell Hudson, 90, of Pulaski, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2006 in the Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Blacksburg.

She was born on March 27, 1916 in Pulaski and was the daughter of the late Samuel Franklin Harrell and Mary Lettie Burke Harrell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Hudson, Sr. Together they were the owners of several businesses and land developments in Pulaski County, Tennessee, Daytona Beach, Fla., Clifton Forge, Va. and Lancaster, Pa. She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Pulaski for many years. She was a dedicated member of the Araminta Snider Sunday School Class and served as treasurer for many years. She was also a member of the Madeline Harman Women’s Club and the Duodecim Club for many years.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers, a nephew and a son-in–law. Surviving are four children, Peggy Hudson Rorrer and her husband Kenny, Pulaski, Patricia Hudson Richards and her husband Jim, Pulaski, Carolyn Hudson Wallace and her late husband John, Glen Allen, Robert A. Hudson, Jr. and his wife Beverly, Blacksburg; five wonderful grandchildren, Jane H. Rorrer, Pulaski, Robert A. Hudson III and his wife Karen, Blacksburg, Ashley W. Borders and her husband Keith, Mechanicsville, Lynn H. Byrd and her husband Cory, Christiansburg, E. Amy Hudson, Salem; two special great-grandsons, John Robert Hudson, Blacksburg, Scott Allen Hudson, Blacksburg; sister, Betty Harrell Hurst, Dublin; two sisters-in-Law; four nieces and three nephews. The family would like to offer special thanks to Heritage Hall Nursing Home for the care of Mrs. Hudson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 27, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 524 N. Jefferson Avenue, Pulaski with the Rev. Randy Winn and the Rev. Gordon Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Pulaski. Visiting will be Saturday from the church where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour. There will be a reception in Mrs. Hudson’s honor after the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made to the Thelma H. Hudson Memorial Fund, c/o the First Christian Church, 524 N. Jefferson Avenue, Pulaski, Va. 24301.
