Hudgins, Mildred Scruggs

Mildred Scruggs Hudgins, 86, of Radford, Va., passed away on Friday, October 10, 2008. She was a member of the Radford Presbyterian Church. She was a retired registered nurse who graduated from Johnston Willis in Richmond. She worked at Radford Community Hospital and later worked for Drs. Haas, Elswick and Graham in Radford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude Howell Sr. and Bessie Fairburn Scruggs; and her husband, Edwin Charles “Sonny” Scruggs. Survivors include son and daughter-inlaw, Skip and Linda Hudgins, of Ruckersville, Va.; three grandchildren, Trey, Megan and Tyler Hudgins, of Ruckersville; three sisters and brotherin-law, Mary Hayse, of Radford, Helen Reece, and Ruth and Kenneth Keyser, all of Clifton Forge; brother and sister-inlaw, Bobby and Faye Scruggs, of Clifton Forge; sister-in-law, Margaret Elam, of Chase City; two special nephews, Jim and David Hayse; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside memorial service will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2008, at Sunrise Burial Park in Radford with the Rev. Randy Morris officiating.
