Hopkins, Luther D.

Luther D. “Shorty” Hopkins, 78, of Parkersburg passed away May 1, 2006, at the Marietta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Aug. 23, 1926, in Pulaski, Va., a son of the late David H. and Dora B. Gravley Hopkins. Shorty retired from Kaiser Aluminum and was a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Kay Caplinger Hopkins of Parkersburg; two sons and their wives, Steve and Margie Hopkins of Lowell, Ohio, and David and Diane Hopkins of Blacksburg, Va.; two daughters, Missy Dawn Hopkins of Parkersburg and Brenda Stoll of Marietta; one stepson and his wife, Lovie and Diedra Burdette of Parkersburg; and several grandchildren, brothers and sisters.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Kenny Hopkins.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike Street, south Parkersburg. Interment will follow at the Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.
