Ira Wingfield Hoover “Sonny”, 75, of Radford, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2013. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church. He was retired from the Lynchburg Foundry after 42 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jack Hoover and Mary Weeks Bender. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Constance Wilson Hoover; sons and daughter-in-law, Charles and Debra Hoover of Mount Joy, PA and William Hoover of Radford; daughters and son-in-law Suzanne Turpin of South Riding and Jennifer and Robert Tarr of Cockeysville, MD; brothers and sister-in-law, John Bender of Chesterfield, Mark and Jennifer Bender of Glenn Allen and Jay Bender of Harrisonburg; sister and brother-in-law, Patty and John Kay of Young Harris, GA; six granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 1 at 11 a.m. at the Central United Methodist Church in Radford with the Rev. Don Shelor officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 30, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
