Hardy, Helen Elizabeth Williamson

Helen Elizabeth Williamson Hardy, of Pulaski, Va., died Sunday, February 26, 2006. She was born on June 13, 1917 in Radford, Va. to the late George Sidney and Mary Copenhaver Williamson.

She studied English and Home Economics and graduated from Radford College in 1938. The same year she married Joseph Allen Hardy and worked for the State of Virginia until they started a family. They were married 59 years until he preceded her to their Eternal Reward in 1998. Four years later her daughter, Sydney Hardy Cobb, also preceded her.

Surviving her are a daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Jim Ellis of Bluff City, Tenn.; brother, George Sidney (Bud) Williamson of Radford; brother and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Lvylyn Hardy of Bedford, Jane Hardy of Bedford; nephews and nieces; and very special family and friends, Lester and Beth Bolt and family, Danny and Claudine Jones and family, Porishua Jones, JoAnn Davidson, and Tina Smith.

A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, March 1, at 2 p.m. from the Draper Valley Presbyterian Church in Draper, Va. with Dr. Cortez Cooper and the Rev. Ken Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A reception will follow the service in the church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75231, or to the American Cancer Association, P.O.
