HANDY, Daris M. Carter

Daris M. Carter Handy, 95, of Christiansburg, passed away at her home on Sunday, May 28, 2006.

She is survived by 10 children. Her daughters are JoAnn Linkous, Roanoke, Dinah and Larry Hall, Catawba, Wanda Handy of Delaware, Dodie Herndon of South Carolina, and Katie Handy of Delaware. Her sons are James C. and Betty P. Handy, Bristol, Va., Hiram L. (Jeff) Handy, Charlotte, Roger and Anna Handy, Radford, Arvel Handy, Charlotte and Bobby Handy, Shawsville. She is also survived by four sisters-in-law, Virginia Carter, Chilhowie, Mary Handy, Dublin, Elizabeth Wills, Dublin and Alta Handy of Bristol. She is survived by 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and two great-great -grandchildren.

Friends may call anytime after 12 noon at Horne Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2006. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Everett Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens.
