Betty Croy Gearheart, 78, of McCoy, passed away surrounded by her loving family Monday, November 27, 2006. Betty was born November 21, 1928 to the late Jennings Croy and Georgia McCoy Croy. Betty was preceded in death by two brothers, Dean Croy and David Croy.

Betty was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a friend to all and will be sorely missed.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Thomas Gearheart; two daughters, Sandra Gilbert of Pulaski, Sharon Graham and husband Larry of Blacksburg; three grandchildren, Cassey Mills and husband Mark, Tom Cruise and wife Lynette, all of Pulaski, and Krystine Wirt and husband Phillip of Christiansburg; two great-grandchildren, Carly Palmer and Lauren Cruise. She is also survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Nedra Croy, Daniel and Wanda Croy, all of Blacksburg; sisters-in-law, Sue Croy of Christiansburg, Edith and Ottie Hall of Blacksburg, Rebecca and Harvey Flinchum of Salem, Josephine and Randal Lovern of Blacksburg, and Lucille Linkous of Lebanon; a brother-in-law, Henderson and Shirley Linkous of Blacksburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A service celebrating Betty’s life will be held at Centennial Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in McCoy on Thursday, November 30, 2006 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Gary McCoy, the Rev. Gordon Lee, and the Rev. Holly Phillips officiating. Internment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Centennial Christian Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 427, McCoy, Va. 24111.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
