Foster, Jr., James Monroe

James Monroe Foster, Jr. 69, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2023. Formally of Portsmouth Va he was born on September 23, 1954 to the late James Foster, Sr. and Virginia Foster.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Linda Foster; sisters, Carol Darden and Brenda Brinkley and her husband Ronnie; brother, Milton Foster; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his four-legged companion, Riggins.

James attended Fredrick Military School and then later went on to college at Virginia Military Institute. He was very proud of being a part of the Viginia Military Institute and took pride in it. He was an avid sports lover his favorite teams being Virginia Tech and Virgina Military Institute. He also enjoyed reading, telling jokes, and was a history buff, he especially enjoyed Military History. He had a big personality and loved telling jokes to his friends and family. He often times would give them gifts, gag gifts were his favorite to give out. He will be missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 11, 2023 from 5-7 pm at Horne Funeral Home. There will be at memorial service held at a later date in Portsmouth, VA.
