farmer_sheila_duncanSheila Duncan Farmer, 62, of Lightship Dr., Mooresville, N.C., went to be with our Lord on Sunday, July 4, 2010, at home surrounded by her loved ones, after losing her battle with cancer. Born on August 12, 1947, in Pulaski, Va., she was the daughter of the late Dennie K. and Maryline Dalton Duncan. Sheila was a homemaker and graduated from Pulaski High School, Class of 1965. Sheila attended Memorial Baptist Church in Pulaski, Va. Mrs. Farmer is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Herschel Farmer; children, Todd Farmer and special friend, Stephanie Francis, of Cornelius, and Heather Farmer Bedell and husband, Jason, of Huntersville; the love of her life, grandson, Jamie Bedell, Nana’s sweet boy, of Huntersville; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Leola and Johnnie Cox, of Dublin, Va.; brother-in-law and sister-inlaw, George and Oneta Farmer, of Roanoke, Va.; several special cousins and relatives in Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, and Maryland; nephews, Duane Cox, Terry Farmer and David Farmer, of Pulaski, Va.; special niece, Susan McAnally, of Rehoboth Beach, Del.; best friends, Joyce Gray and husband, Kenneth, of Pulaski, Va.; and god children, Angie Akers and Aaron Gray, of Pulaski, Va. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, in the Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lynne Lepley officiating. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Bob Conover, Bruce Kwaiser, J.T. Flower, Joe Tilton, John Bower and Johnnie Cox. The family would like to give special thanks to family doctor, John Gatlin, and Dr. Timothy Kuo, and the staff at Lake Norman Hemotology and Oncology, Susan, Rachel, Sarah, Pat and Sheila, for the loving care they provided. Also special thanks to Hospice of Iredell County for their loving care and making Sheila’s passing as pain free as possible.
