Dowdy, Dannie Ray

Dannie Ray Dowdy, 59, of Christiansburg, died Tuesday, November 8, 2011, at Lewis Gale Hospital Montgomery. He was born in Montgomery County on February 21, 1952, to the late James and Ella Mae Thompson Dowdy.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Dowdy, of Christiansburg; stepson, Jonathan Justus; sisters and brother-in-law, Della Mae King, of South Carolina, Joyce Farmer, Vicki and Donnie Lucas, all of Christiansburg; three brothers, Marty Dowdy, Steve Dowdy, Frankie and Genevie Dowdy, all of Blacksburg; mother-in-law, Cassie Quesenberry; sisters-in-law, Laura Salmon, Angela Brown and Jeff Bishop, all of Christiansburg; special friends, Charles Burnette and Faith Brown; and special companion baby.

Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, November 10, 2011, at 2:30 p.m. in the Dowdy Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive SW, Blacksburg.
