Dove Sr., Robert Louis

Robert Louis Dove Sr., 80, of Blacksburg, died Saturday, March 1, 2008, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was born in Blacksburg, Va. on August 27, 1927, to the late W.A. and Lucy G. Vaden Dove. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sharlett Mae Dove; two brothers, Willie Dove and Ribble Dove; and one sister, Nellie Cook.

He is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Robert “Bobby” L. Jr. and Elaine Dove, of Radford, and Fred Dove, of Blacksburg; three sisters, Virginia Slusser, of Blacksburg, Betty Tolly, of Blacksburg, and Ellen Dowdy, of Bland; one brother, Gene Dove, of Narrows; two sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Shirley Doss, of Blacksburg, and Joan and Nelson Hurt, of Mims, Fla.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 3, 2008, at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dewey O. Weaver Jr. and the Rev. Rador Vaden officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, Blacksburg.
