Doughton, Emma Romano

Emma Rose Romano Doughton, age 82, of Christiansburg died Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital , Pittsburgh, PA. She was born in Bluefield, WV on September 4, 1933 to the late Jim and Adeline Romano.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Carroll Doughton; a daughter, Laura Leigh Burton; and brothers, Frankie, Joe, and Patsy Romano. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Blacksburg, VA.

Prior to moving to Christiansburg, she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bluefield, WV. She served as a Liturgical Music Minister for almost 70 years. Emma was also active in the professional community having served as an office manager for Dr. Lowrie Glasgow for 15 years.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Randall Lester, Blacksburg; sons and daughters-in-law, David Carroll Doughton and wife Judy, Roanoke, VA, Kenneth Charles (Chuck) Doughton and wife Judy, Henderson, NV, Christopher Shea Doughton and Sara Gail Robinson, Pittsburgh, PA; son-in-law, James Burton, Blacksburg; sister, Judy Kiser, Dublin; grandchildren, Joshua, Cory, Kyle, Michael, Jennifer, John Reid, Garrett, Emily, Laura Leigh, Caitlin, Christian, Ryan, and Heather; great grandchild, Cooper Jameson Lester.

Funeral Mass will be conducted Monday, March 21, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Remi Sojka officiating. Interment will follow on Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluefield, WV. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1205 Old Mill Road, Blacksburg, VA 24060. The family will receive friends and family from 6-8:00 p.m. Sunday evening with a Rosary beginning at 8:00 p.m. at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr. S.W. Blacksburg, VA.
