Dalton, Jeffrey Evans
Jeffrey Evans Dalton, beloved husband, father, and brother, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, May 3rd, 2024.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jeanmarie Morgan; daughter, Kate Dalton (Karl); sister, Nancy Dwoyer (Doug); nieces Diana Blanton (Josh) and Emily Dwoyer (Andrew); sister-law, Maureen Morgan (Peter); and mother-in-law, Patricia Binkley, along with friends near and far.
Jeff was born June 3, 1947 in Radford, Virginia, to the late Martin Lester and Ruth Dalton. He spent his childhood in Warm Springs, Virginia. A naturally talented singer and actor, Jeff moved to California and performed professionally in the 70s, including acting alongside Gregory Peck in the 1970 film I Walk The Line. After marrying Jeanie in 1982, they moved back to Virginia to be closer to family, and to start a family of their own. Jeff worked in Virginia Tech’s Video and Broadcast Services, directing and producing a variety of projects for the campus over the course of his career.
Jeff retired from his position as Senior Producer in 2017. His retirement years included spending time with his family and friends, especially his beloved dogs, whom he loved to spoil. Jeff was hilarious and quick-witted, and unfalteringly generous. He loved to fish, and was a never-ending font of stories and information. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
