Crowe, W. Michael
W. Michael Crowe, 60, of Christiansburg, Virginia, formerly of Newport News, died at home on March 8, 2006.
He is survived by his wife, Jebbie; sons, Russell and his wife, Lisa of Newport News, Douglas of Chicago, Ill., Will and his wife, Becky of Blacksburg; daughters, Michele and her husband, Eric of Jacksonville, Fla., Abby of Charlotte, N.C., and Alan of Arlington; three grandsons and one granddaughter; his mother, Myrtle; and two sisters, Pat and Judi, all of Chattanooga, Tenn.
Mike graduated from GA Tech. He was a member of Sigma Nu Social Fraternity. For 24 years, Mike was employed at Newport News Shipbuilding. Among other job assignments, he served as Director of Nuclear Carrier Construction and Manager of QID.
He was a member of the Warwick Rotary and The James River Country Club. While living in Newport News, he was a parishioner at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church where Cursillo was a important part of his life. Mike has lived in Blacksburg for 10 years and is a dedicated Hokie fan. Currently, he is a parishioner at Christ Episcopal Church, Blacksburg, The Hokie Club and The Blacksburg Country Club.
The family will receive friends at their home, 2744 Ellett Road, Christiansburg. The Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held at Christ Church, Blacksburg, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2006. The family requests that you join them at a reception immediately following the ceremony at the Blacksburg Country Club.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Mike’s name to Habitat for Humanity, 403 Salem Avenue, Roanoke, Va. 24016.
