Cox, Theodore Jeffrey

Theodore (Ted) Jeffrey Cox, 80, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, 26 October 2023. He was born on 17 September 1943 in Pulaski. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Theodore James and Freda Turpin Cox of Dublin, and his brother, Dean Cox of Pulaski, and four-legged baby Polar Bear.

He is survived by his son Theodore (TJ) J. Cox II, his daughter and son-in-law Kelli and Mike Clayton, his grandsons, Michael, Trey, and Zachary Clayton, his great-grandson Luka Clayton and great-granddaughter Tatum Clayton. He is survived by his beloved sister-in-law Garda Cox, his niece and nephew-in-law Dena and Stuart Radcliffe, great nieces Amanda, Morgan, and Haley Radcliffe. He leaves behind many loved cousins and has now reunited with the many cousins he had lost.

Ted proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1961-1965. He was a plank-owner on the USS Enterprise CVA-N 65, served her well as she completed a world cruise, Operation Sea Orbit, to showcase our country’s 1st nuclear powered aircraft carrier. He saw the world and earned his Shellback, Knight in the Order of the Golden Dragon, Order of the Rock, and Mossback.

Ted spent his life bringing out the beauty in every kind of wood, he shared the love of building with his brother, their father taught them all he knew, and they continued to build all over the NRV, Virginia, surrounding states, and all around the world. He built furniture for his mother, children, grandchildren, and family. He built homes, buildings, and nursing homes. He loved his old cars and truck, showing them off riding around. Loved spending time fishing down at the river and lake. For many years he entertained his family and friends with his outstanding cooking skills, hosting fish fries and cooking on “Miss Piggy”.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Seagle Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Terri Sternburg officiating. Visiting will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery with military honors at 3:00 p.m.
