Cook, Lessie Sarah Reed

Lessie Sarah Reed Cook, 81, of Blacksburg, died Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at her home. She was born in Montgomery County, Va., on April 13, 1924 to the late Leonard and Lundy Susan Akers Reed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Sidney Cook; three sisters, Gracie Shaver, Sadie Caldwell and Arbutiss Cook; two brothers, Grover Reed and Hersey Reed.

She retired from Imperial Reading Corp. with 25 years of service.

She is survived by her daughter, Carlie Cooper, of Christiansburg; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul B. and Irene Cook of Ellett, Roger B. and Linda Cook of Blacksburg, Curtis S. Cook of Blacksburg, Ricky and Wilma Cook of Christiansburg; a sister, Nannie Cragett of Christiansburg; a brother, William “Bill” Reed of Blacksburg; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. The family would like to express a thank you to her special caregiver, Linda Cook.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 13, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Gilbert and the Rev. Rador Vaden officiating. Interment will follow in the Hale Cemetery, Blacksburg. Friends may call anytime after 12 noon Thursday, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., Blacksburg.
