Conner, Nellie Rae Vest

Nellie Rae Vest Conner, formerly of Check, Va., passed away on November 15, 2007 at the home of her son in South Hill, Va. at 85 years old.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andy (Bud) and Minnie Vest; husband, Robert H. Conner; granddaughter, Deborah Jane Conner; sister, Ruby Poff; and brothers, Troy Vest and Curtis Vest.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Geraldine and Avery Lane of Salem; son and daughter-in-law, Paul D. and Nancy Conner of South Hill; grandchildren, Peggy E. Conner and friend, Gary Hawkins, of South Hill, Travis Lane and wife, Dawn, of Moneta and Russell Lane of Salem; sisters, Lillie Conner and Gladys Eanes, both of Check; sister-in-law, Anna Lee Conner of Salem; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 18, 2007 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel, Floyd, with the Rev. Donnie Marshall officiating. Interment will follow at Wilson Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at Maberry Funeral Home. A reception will be held at the Little White Church following burial.

Nellie worked at the Christiansburg Overall Factory and enjoyed gardening and quilting.
