COLLINS, Corrine Alexander

Sunrise 1935 Sunset 2006 Corrine (Peaches) Alexander Collins. Precious Lord Take My Hand…. The Lord placed his hand in that of Sister Corrine (Peaches) Alexander Collins, of Christiansburg, on Saturday, May 27, 2006 and lead her to a glorious rest.

Corrine was born October 8, 1935 to the late Mary Willie Nichols. She was lovingly raised by her “Mom” the late Nannie Tolliver and “Dad” the late Tazewell Tolliver. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Elizabeth Tolliver, Ada Mae Tull; two brothers, Clarence Alexander, William (Bean) Tolliver; and son, Randy Wiley.

Sister Collins was a long time member of Greater Mount Zion United Holy Church where she served as a Deaconess, choir member, and held various offices such as secretary and treasurer and served on the Pastor’s Aide Committee.

She is survived by her spouse of 53 years, William (Bill) Collins; son, Tazewell Collins, both of Christiansburg; sisters-in-law Elizabeth Alexander, Mary Ann Dean, Berta Price, Lillian Collins, Georgia Collins, Margaret (Claude) Shabazz, and Edith Collins; brothers-in-law, Charlie (Maxine) Collins and Tommy Collins; special niece, Kathleen Alexander; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Greater Mount Zion UHC, Christiansburg on Thursday, June 1, 2006 at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. Friends may call anytime after 5 p.m. Wednesday, and the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2006. McCoy Funeral Home of Blacksburg is handling arrangements.
